We had the privilege of hosting a visiting Cub Scout from Ottawa Canada, Owen Czerny (8 years old) who visited Endeavour Primary with his Adult Leader dad, Peter and Brownie Sister, Rebecca.  Also visiting today was Deputy Chief Commissioner of Western Australia Scouts, Sheridan Bunney.

After a short welcome and sharing by Senior Sixer, Danish Tan, Owen shared with us about some of the activities he has done as a Cub Scout in Canada.  He also shared with the Cub Scouts the badges of Canadian Cub Scouts and we had a lively discussion about some of the similarities and differences between Cub Scouting in the two countries.
Owen was easy to talk to and quickly made friends with almost everyone.  After a short break, we cooked an egg for Silver Arrow, played games organised by Sixers for Over to You and ended the day with a group photo.

We received an email from Peter conveying his thanks for hosting them:

Hi Clarence,

This is a long overdue THANK YOU from Owen, Rebecca and myself. We had a wonderful time with the Cubs and Brownies of Endeavour Primary School, and amazing opportunity for us to interact with children and adults in a setting that is more a part of 'real life' than just remaining in the tourist 'bubble'! In our month of travel, this was a key experience for us which was one of the stories featured in Owen and Rebecca's presentations to their home Cub and Spark groups, as well as school classes.

Here are a few photos to enjoy.

Lastly, please do stay in touch. I would be happy to facilitate some kind of internet exchange (e.g. e-mail or video clips) with the Cubs and Brownies here; this could perhaps also be done between school classes. As well, please let me know if you want to plan a Cub and/or Scout visit to our region of Canada; I'd be very happy to help in any way I can.
